I had wondered around the school forever trying to find the Office, the door numbers were all trippy and I was lost.
I had passed a group after group of tightly knit kids. Jake wasn't kidding...the populars were snobs. Everyone kept to their own little group from what I could tell.
When I looked up from the paper the hallway was empty. A small wave of panic shot through me as I whiped my head side to side looking for other people...

(Flashback)
I was late for school that day and was responsible to find my way up to Ms Jenny's room, I was only a 2nd grader so I had no idea where I was going.
I took the back stairwell, climbing up the everlasting flights of grey concrete that went on forever. I forgot how many flights there were untill I got to the right floor. Three? Four? Five? I forgot. Ms Jenny always brought us up in line. I pulled on a door only to find it locked. Letting out an annoyed sigh I climbed more stairs.
I heard voices up above me, laughing. I looked up to see some older boys sitting on the stairs. 5th graders maybe? I leaned over the rail "Hey!"
I saw their heads peek over the railing down at me, then at eachother.
"Can you help me find Ms. Jenny's room? Please?" I called.
I heard them get up and thump down the stairs. I ran up the level that seperated us, stopping infront of them. MOst of them were atleast half a foot bigger then me, I looked up at them "Can you?"
The 5th graders scared me, but they seemed trustworthy. They looked at eachother and grinned. "Sure little man, we'll help you." one of them said, ruffling my short hair.
"Really?" I grinned up at him.
"You just have to do some things for us." he said. "Gimmie your bag."
I hesitated, looking at the other boys.
"You wanna get tah class or what?" one of them growled.
I slid my WWF back pack off my shoulders and handed it to the boy. He upsipped it and took out some of the papers. I recognized the picture I drew for my mom.
He held up the pink sheet of construction paper and read it aloud. "'My mommy is my best friend. She likes to listen to music with me and I cook with her a lot. My mommy is cool.'" he mimicked my high voice "Looks like we got a Mama's boy here."
He tossed my bag over my head to the boy behind me, he pulled out another drawing of mine. "The fuck is this supposed to be?" he held up my drawing of a guitar.
"Its a electric guitar." I said, shaking. "You said you'd take me to Ms. Jenny's room you said so!"
"Quit cryin' mama boy." he laughed.
Tears welled in my eyes "I want my pack pack back!"
"He can't even say 'back pack' right." one of them laughed.
A tear rolled down my cheek "I wanna go home." I cried.
"Quit crying!" another one said.
I let out a wail, echoing in the stairwell.
One of them grabbed me and clapped his hand over my mouth. I bit his finger, making him cry out in pain.
The boy who held my backpack punched me in the stomach. I let out a muffled cry and he dropped me to the floor. The other 4 boys closed in on me, kicking my small body on every area they could get to. I curled into a ball and cried, it only caused me a blow to the eye. I rolled, causing 2 of them to jump out of the way so they wern't choved down the stairs.
Another foot collided with my back and shoved me a few inched. I felt the corner of the first stair slip past my shoulder while gravity kicked in and sent me tumbling down the stairs.
I landed face down at the bottom. I heard them gasp and start down the stairs.
"Play dead" I told myself. I knew if I breathed they'd just start kicking me again.
"He's not breathing!"
"Oh SHIT!"
"You killed him!"
"Me?! You're the one who kicked him!"
We all heard the clang of a door open and close. High heeled shoes began to tap down the staircase.
"Lets get outta here!" one of them whispered, tossing my backpack over my still body.
Their footsteps echoed softly as they pattered down the stairs, their shadows disappearing out of sight.
I let out a pathetic groan and tried to sit up, only to feel pain shoot through my whole body. "Help..." I moaned.
The taps began to quicken, I saw the shadow of a lady get closer to me, bend down and lay her hand on my back. I let in a shuddering painful gasp of air.
"CC?" she said.
I tried to move again but I couldn't...
"CC?"

"CC! Snap out of it man!"
I snapped back into reality, a hand waved infront of my face. "Hey!"
I turned to look at Jake. He stood right next to me, his books under his arm, he looked concerned. "You alright man?"
"Y-yeah." I tossed my hair out of my eyes. "Just..."
"What?"
"Nothing. Thinking. Memories, blah." I waved my hand "Wheres the office?"
Jake chuckled, showing his perfect white teeth at me "You overshot it. Follow me."

(Tiemskip since I'm a lazy bitch.)

"DAD! DINNER TIME!" I called down to the basement. I knew he wouldn't be up for a while so I slammed the door shut again, sitting at the table.
Mom sat a bowl of Mac-N-Cheese on in front of me, I grabbed my fork and began to shovel it in my mouth.
"So how was your first day C?" she asked, sitting next to me.
I threw some salt on my food and stirred it with my fork. "Fun. Jake has some awesome friends."
"Like how?" she said, grabbing the pepper. My mom was a great cook, so was I but she was better.
"Well." I began to shovel food in my mouth again "There was this kid Andy whose like, taller then dad hes cool. This other kid named Jinxx hes cool too and get this, this other kid named Ashley is dating Andy. Ashley's cool too." I scraped the left over Velveeta off the sides of my bowl before finishing whats left.
"Ashley is a boy...?"
"Yeah. He looks pretty badass too." I said, biting my fork.
Mom slapped my arm. "Christian!"
"Ow! Well I was being honest." I flicked her in the chest.
"Silly." She took a bite of her food. "So did you see any boys you'd find interesting?"
I actually swallowed everything in my mouth to answer. "Theres a fine line between gay and bi, mom."
"Doesn't answer my question."
I rolled my eyes. "Nope."
She raised her eyebrows. "None?"
"None of my type. I have to get used to it and all..." I shrugged, chewing on my fork and looking at whats left of my food.
"Well whats your type?" Mom giggled.
"I dunno. Like me and thensome."
"More descriptive, C."
"Likes black, rock, is almost never sad...I don't like sad people, sad people make me sad. Oh plus they're shorter then me or its a no."
She snickered, hiding her face in her hand and sighed. I raised an eyebrow "Whats so funny?"
"You basically just described your friend Jake from what I've seen." she said.
My apatite vanished as my stomach lurched, I felt my cheeks burn. "I-I-I-" I faught for words "He's just a friend mom!" I tried to hide my face but that made her laugh more.
I usually like my mom's happiness. On rough days it made me smile, but right now I wish she'd quit giggling so much!
"Heh. Well anyways. I was thinking that you could invite your new friends over for the night. Your birthday isn't far away you know."
My jaw dropped "You mean a sleep over?!" I gasped.
"No I'm letting you go to a strip club--don't get your hopes up, cowboy--of course I mean a sleep over."
I got up and hugged her, burring my head in the crook of her skinny neck. "Thank you mommmy." I said, my voice muffled.
"Your welcome." she said, patting my back. "And since you're turning 14 I'll let you guys have a couple of cans."
My eyes widened "Beer?"
"Eh I feel like a horrible mother for saying this but yeah. Just stay out of the Black Velvet."
I could feel the eagerness bubbling in my belly. A sleepover! In this very house! With actual friends! I felt like I was going to explode.
"I'LL GO TELL JAKE!" I got up so quickly the chair fell over, I bolted out the door without putting my shoes on.
I fail at cliffhangers -.-"
